EXHAUST GAS ANALYSIS

Engine idling: cold- CO= 5.8 HC= 521 CO2= 11.52 O2= .28

Engine idling: warm- CO= 6.970 HC= 493 CO2= 10.78 O2= .19

Engine warm 2500rpm: CO= .4 HC= 123 CO2= 14.6 O2= .47

Idle lean mixture: CO= .07 HC= 230 CO2= 11.88 O2= 4.9

Blipping idle: CO= 3.349 HC= 1188 CO2= 9.09 O2= 9.34

Disconnected 1 spark plug: CO= .157 HC= 2672 CO2= 7.28 O2= 11.03

Disconnected injector harness: CO= .068 HC= 188 CO2= 6.94 O2= 11.72

under load: CO= .550 HC= 195 CO2= 14.02 O2= 1.58

THERMOSTAT



IGNITION COILS

First I obtained two different coils.

Coil 1 Specifications:

Model: Ic-13
Voltage: 12v
Primary: 1.5-1.6 ohm's
Secondary: 6-7k ohm's

Test results:

Primary: 2.1 ohm's
Secondary: 6.7k ohm's
Earth leakage test: Infinity

Coil 2 Specifications:

Model: Ciz-500
Voltage: 12v
Primary: 3-5 ohm's
Secondary: 7-9k ohm's

Test results:

Primary: 3.7 ohm's
Secondary: 6.9k ohm's
Earth leakage test: Infinity

Before you start testing always test the meter error in the multimeter you are using first, as there can be resistance in the wires or in the system of the multimeter, My multimeter had 0.1 ohm's of resistance which you deduct off your test results recorded..Both coils were out of specifications and are unserviceable.

SPEED OR POSITION SENSOR

By using a brass feeler gauge I checked the gap between the rector tip and pick up coil. My results were within specifications and didn't need any adjusting.

KNOCK SENSOR

Here is an oscilloscope reading of knock sensor!

A Knock sensor allows the engine to run with the ignition timing as far advanced as possible. The computer will continue to advance the timing until the knock sensor detects pinging or detination. At that point the computer retards the ignition timing just enough for the pinging to stop. A knock sensor also makes sure that you're getting as much power and fuel economy as is possible from your engine.
